Slow Food Knoxville will host their 2nd annual Pie Tasting and Bakeoff Party on Thursday, October 11 2012 from 7-9pm. This year, proceeds will benefit Food in the Fort and Redeeming Hope Ministries.
Can you bake a mean pie? Show us! Join us for our 2nd annual pie tasting and bakeoff! This year’s event will be held at Redeeming Hope Ministries in the Fort Sanders neighborhood, located at 1642 Highland Avenue in Knoxville. All proceeds will benefit Food in the Fort.
Pie categories are best sweet, best savory and audience favorite. Winners will take home lovely prizes from our favorite local businesses. Judges are last years winners! $1 buys your vote for audience favorite. All vote money will go directly to Food in the Fort.
Admission is a pie to share or $7 to eat pie. To qualify for the contest, all pies MUST be homemade with at least one local ingredient. Store-bought crusts are not allowed! Pies will be judged based on external characteristics (shape, surface), internal characteristics (texture, crust), and flavor.
REMINDER: we strive for zero waste events. Please bring your own place setting (plate, utensils and drinking glass/mug). Bring your beverage of choice or Slow Food will have coffee and water available.
We would like to thank our generous sponsors for their donations of prizes for the winners: Audrey Jaccard of Odd Pottery, The Mast General Store, Cruze Farm Dairy’s Corn Maze, and Dale’s Fried Pies.
